Spring Fling

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies:

Tube of choice. I am using the art of Lia, a FTU artist. You can see her work here.

Template 338 from Toxic Desirez. You can find it here.

Font of choice. I am using End of the Dream.

Open your template. Set the canvas size to 900 x 780. Resize by 67%. Delete the following layers: Credits, Raster 3, Copy of Raster 3.

Move the Copy (2) of Raster 5 below the (white) Raster 5 layer.

Merge together the following layers:

Raster 9 & Copy of Raster 9
Raster 7 & Copy of Raster 7
Raster 8 & Copy of Raster 8
Raster 6 & Copy of Raster 6
Raster 2 & Copy of Raster 2
Copy of Raster 5 & Copy (2) of Raster 5
(pink) Raster 5 & Copy of Raster 5

Note: resize papers by 60% before adding to tag.

Open your mask & Paper 9. Paste your paper as a new layer above the Raster 1 layer. Apply your mask, then merge group.

Replace each layering with the following:

Raster 9 – Paper 14
Raster 7 – Paper 2
Raster 8 – Paper 12
Raster 6 – Paper 16
Raster 2 – Paper 19
Raster 10 – Paper 12
Raster 4 – Paper 1

Next, we’ll add our elements:

18 – resize by 25%, flip vertical. Paste as a new layer above the top circle layer. Place to the top left of the top circle. Rotate a little to the left. Duplicate, flip horizontal & place to the top right.
82 – resize by 40%. Place to the top of the circle layer.
35 – resize by 60%. Place to the bottom.
61 – resize by 30%, flip horizontal. Place over the highest grass on the right, then a little down.
48 – resize by 40%. Place over the yellow flower.
41 – resize by 80%. Place to the bottom.
77 – resize by 50%. Place along the bottom left of the top circle layer.
30 – resize by 30%. Place to the bottom left.
57 – resize by 25%. Place to the bottom.
68 – resize by 30%. Place to the bottom.
70 – resize by 75%. Place towards the bottom.
5 – resize by 25%. Place to the bottom left.
29 – resize by 30%. Place to the bottom right.
31 – resize by 20%. Place to the right of the bottom pink flowers. Duplicate, flip horizontal & place to the left of the bottom pink flowers.
33 – resize by 15%. Place to the right side of the string.
2 – resize by 50%. Paste as a new layer.

Open your tube, resizing as necessary. Paste as a new layer above the butterfly & flowers layer. Place to your liking. Duplicate & move this layer above the topmost green paper layer. Place a copy over each paper circle. When satisfied with the placement, merge down. On the paper layer, select all, float, defloat. On the merged tubes layer, selections, invert & press delete. Deselect.

Duplicate your merged tubes layer, gaussian blur 3.00. Set the blend mode to Screen, 85. On the original layer, set the blend mode to Luminance(L), 60.

Back to the original tube we added. Duplicate, gaussian blur using the same settings as before. Set the blend mode to Soft Light.

Add your name, copyright, & license # if using a PTU tube. Apply a drop shadow of choice to your layers, then merge visible. Save as a PNG.

Open a new blank image, 600 x 250.

Open Paper 12. Resize by 60%. Paste as a new layer onto your blank canvas.

Next we’ll add the elements:

11 – paste as a new layer.
33 – resize by 50%. Place to the far right. Duplicate, flip horizontal & place to the far left.
29 – resize by 80%. Place to the bottom.
3 – resize by 65%. Place to the top left. Duplicate, flip horizontal & place to the top right.
22 – resize by 40%. Place to your liking.
78 – resize by 25%. Place to the bottom right corner. Duplicate, flip horizontal & place to the bottom left corner.
98 – resize by 60%. Place to the right of the center.
14 – resize by 20%. Place to the bottom left, just a little in from the left.
20 – resize by 15%. Place to the bottom center.
8 – resize by 30%. Place to the left of the ribbon flower. Move just below the ribbon flower layer. Duplicate, flip horizontal & place to the right side of the ribbon flower.
97 – resize by 20%. Place to the bottom right, a little in from the right.
4 – resize by 20%. Place to the left side of the basket.

Add a new raster layer & floodfill with white. Select all, modify, contract by 2. Selections, invert & press delete. Selections, invert. Selections, modify, contract by 3 & press delete. Deselect. Add noise, Gaussian, 75, monochrome checked.

Add your name, copyright, & license info. Apply a drop shadow of choice, then merge visible. Save as a PNG.

For your avatar, delete your text & frame layers. Crop your tag to 200 x 200 or the size of your choice. Then repeat the text & frame layers. Merge visible & save as a PNG.

Open Element 8. Resize by 75%, all layers unchecked. Now resize all layers by 75%.

Open your mask & Paper 15. Resize your paper by 60%. Copy & paste your paper as a new layer & move below the clocks layer. Appy your mask, merge group.

Open Element 3. Resize by 60%. Paste as a new layer & place to the right side. Duplicate, free rotate 180. Place over the left side.

Now let’s add our remaining elements:

94 – resize by 50%. Paste as a new layer above the clocks layer.
23 – resize by 25%. Place to the upper left of the large clock. Duplicate, flip horizontal & place to the upper right of the medium click.
30 – resize by 25%. Place to the bottom left.
32 – resize by 15%. Place to the bottom left of the card.
49 – resize by 20%. Place to the bottom right of the card.
95 – resize by 50%. Free rotate, left, 65.00. Place to the bottom. Flip vertical.
10 – resize by 25%. Place to the bottom center.
34 – resize by 30%. Place to the bottom right.
74 – resize by 12%. Place to the left of the element we just added. Rotate slightly to the right.

Open your tube, resizing as necessary. Paste as a new layer above the duplicate rose layer & place in the center. Duplicate, gaussian blur 3.00. Set the blend mode to Overlay, 85.

Add your name, copyright, & license info. Apply a drop shadow of choice, then merge visible. Save as a PNG.

Open Element 8. Resize by 75%, all layers unchecked.

Open your mask & Paper 18. Resize your paper by 60%. Paste your paper as a new layer onto your frame canvas. Move your paper below the frame layer. Apply your mask, merge group.

On your frame layer, use your magic wand and click inside each frame. Selections, modify, expand by 10.

Open Paper 11 & resize by 60%. Paste your paper as a new layer. Selections, invert & press delete. Deselect & move below the frame layer.

Now let’s add our elements:

14 – resize by 80%, flip horizontal. Paste as a new layer above your frame layer. Place to the top of the frame.
44 – resize by 85%. Paste as a new layer.
66 – resize by 50%. Place to the top left corner of your frame.
70 – resize by 50%. Place to the bottom right.
57 – resize by 90%. Place to the bottom.
24 – resize by 80%. Paste as a new layer.
7 – resize by 32%. Place to the bottom.
86 – resize by 15%. Place on top of the door of the lantern.
81 – resize by 30%. Place to the bottom left.
60 – resize by 40%. Place to the bottom left. Duplicate & place to the bottom right.
67 – resize by 18%. Place to the bottom left of the lantern. Duplicate, flip horizontal & place to the bottom right of the lantern.
6 – resize by 16%, flip horizontal. Place to the bottom right, a little up from the bottom.

Open your tube, resizing slightly. Paste as a new layer just above your paper layer. Place over the left frame (I mirrored the image). On your frame layer, use your magic wand and click inside the left frame. Selections, modify, expand by 10. On the tube layer, selections, invert & press delete. Deselect. Repeat for the right frame.

Merge together your tube layers. Duplicate, gaussian blur 3.00. Set the blend mode to Screen. On the original tube layer, set the blend mode to Hard Light.

Paste your tube again, this time above the bubbles layer, resizing as necessary. Duplicate, gaussian blur, 3.00. Set the blend mode to Screen, 44.

Add your name, copyright, & license info. Apply a drop shadow of choice, if desired. Merge visible & save as a PNG.

Open Element 79. Edit > Transform > Scale using the following settings:

Scale

Resize to 488 x 600. Set your canvas size to 600 x 600.

Open Paper 14. Resize by 60%, then apply your mask. Paste your masked paper onto your frame canvas, then move below the frame layer.

Open Paper 7. Resize by 75%. Paste as a new layer just above the mask layer. On the frame layer, use your magic wand & click inside the frame. Select > Modify > Expand by 10. On the paper layer, Select > Inverse. Press delete, then deselect.

Next, we’ll add our elements:

55 – resize by 40%. Paste as a new layer above the frame layer. Place towards the top of the frame.
47 – resize by 45%. Place to the top of the frame.
70 – resize by 50%. Paste as a new layer.
19 – resize by 40%. Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal. Place to the bottom left of the frame.
2 – resize by 20%. Place to the bottom right of the frame.
52 – resize by 55%. Place to the bottom.
42 – resize by 20%. Place to the bottom right of the sign.
1 – resize by 40%. Place to the bottom right. Duplicate & place to the bottom left.
31 – resize by 25%. Place to the bottom right of the leaf stalk.
11 – resize by 40%. Place to the bottom of the leaf stalk.
76 – resize by 15%. Place to the bottom right of the box.
10 – resize by 11%. Place to the bottom of the mushroom.

Open your tube. Paste as a new layer above the paper layer. Place your tube’s face over the left side. Ctrl + click on the thumbnail of the paper layer. On the tube layer, Select > Inverse & press delete. Deselect. Duplicate your tube, Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur 3.00. Set the blend mode to Screen. On the original layer, set the blend mode to Soft Light.

Paste your tube again, this time above the sign layer. Resize your tube as necessary & place to your liking. Duplicate your tube layer, set the blend mode to Soft Light.

Add your name, copyright, & license info. Apply a drop shadow of choice, then merge visible. Save as a PNG.

Open Paper 2. Resize by 60%. Apply your mask, convert to smart object, then rasterize the layer. Paste as a new layer onto your frame canvas. Move the masked layer below the frame layer.

Now let’s add our elements:

29 – resize by 20%. Paste as a new layer above your frame layer. Edit, Transform, Flip Horizontal. Place to the top of your frame.
15 – resize by 45%. Place over the left side of the frame.
6 – resize by 30%. Place over the flower spray, moving slightly down.
39 – resize by 50%. Place to the bottom.
19 – resize by 50%. Place to the bottom.
4 – resize by 60%. Edit, Transform > Flip Horizontal. Place to your liking.
25 – resize by 35%. Place to the bottom right.
88 – resize by 70%. Place to the bottom.
94 – resize by 20%. Place to the bottom left.

Open your tube, resizing as necessary. Paste as a new layer above the large clover layer. Duplicate, Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur 3.00. Set the blend mode to Overlay.

Apply a drop shadow of choice to your layers, then merge visible. Duplicate your layer & set the blend mode to Screen, 50. Add your name, copyright, & license number. Apply a drop shadow to your name, if desired.

Merge visible & save as a PNG.

88 – resize by 60%. Place to the bottom left.
25 – resize by 50%. Place to the bottom.
22 – resize by 55%. Place to your liking.
70 – resize by 20%. Place to the bottom left of the stone.
47 – resize by 15%. Place to the bottom left of the harp.

Open your tube. Paste as a new layer above the duplicate mask layer. Place over the left side. On the mask layer, select all, float, defloat. On your tube layer, selections, invert & press delete. Deselect. Set the blend mode to Luminance, 38.

Paste your tube again, this time above the bubbles layer, resizing as necessary. Place a little to the right. Duplicate, gaussian blur 3.00. Set the blend mode to Soft Light.

Add your name & apply the EyeCandy 4000 Glass to your text if desired. Add your copyright & license info. Apply a drop shadow of choice, then merge visible. Save as a PNG.

Note: To resize (scale) your elements, drag your element to the working canvas. With your move tool, press shift while you click & drag the edge of the image you wish to resize to the size you would like. This also works in PSP with the pick tool instead of the move tool.

Open a new blank image, 851 x 315. Open Paper 14. Paste as a new layer onto your blank canvas.

Now we can add our elements:

Element 73 – paste as a new layer above your paper layer. Scale to size. Place to the bottom left. Rotate slightly to the right. Duplicate, Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal. Place to the bottom right.
Element 73 – paste as a new layer. Scale to size. Place to the bottom left corner.
Element 2 – paste as a new layer. Scale to size. Edit > Transform > Rotate 90 CW. Rotate slightly to the left. Place over the right branch. Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal. Place over the left branch.
Element 65 – paste as a new layer. Scale to size. Place to the bottom center.
Element 71 – paste as a new layer. Scale to size. Place to the left side of the clock.
Element 27 – paste as a new layer. Scale to size. Place to the bottom right, about an inch in from the right edge.
Element 21 – paste as a new layer. Scale to size. Place over the bags of beans.
Element 93 – paste as a new layer. Scale to size. Place to the bottom right corner.
Element 30 – paste as a new layer. Scale to size. Place to the bottom left, between the spoons & roses.

Open your tube. Paste as a new layer above the roses layer. Scale to size. Place to the right of the clock. Duplicate. Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur, Radius 3.0. Set the blend mode to Overlay, Opacity 60.

Paste your tube again, this time just above your paper layer. Resize slightly. Place to the right of the smaller tube. Duplicate twice & arrange over the left side of the smaller tube. Merge the three larger tubes together. Duplicate. Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur, Radius 3.0. Set the blend mode to Screen. On the original merged layer, set the blend mode to Soft Light.

Open Paper 7. Paste as a new layer above the top layer. Select all. Select > Modify > Contract by 3. Press delete, deselect. Filter > Noise > Amount 25, Gaussian, Monochromatic checked.

Add your name, copyright, & license info. Apply a drop shadow of choice, then merge visible. Save as a PNG.

For your avatar:

Delete your frame & text layers. With your Rectangular Marquee Tool, click & drag over a 200 x 200 section of your image. Image > Crop. Repeat your frame & text layers. Save as a PNG.

Open Element 99. Set the canvas size to 800 x 800. Resize by 75%, all layers unchecked. Now resize all layers by 75%.

Open Paper 6 & your mask. Resize your paper by 60%, then paste as a new layer above the window frame layer. Move your paper below the window layer. Apply your mask, merge group. Add noise, Gaussian, 25, monochrome checked.

Open Paper 14 & resize by 60%. On your window layer, use your magic wand & click inside the window. Selections, modify, expand by 5. Paste your paper as a new layer above the mask layer. Move it up so that you see more of the green through the window. Selections, invert & press delete. Deselect.

Now let’s add our elements:

Element 29 – resize by 69%. Paste as a new layer between the mask & paper layers. Move towards the top of the frame.
Element 58 – resize by 40%, flip horizontal. Paste as a new layer above the window layer. Place to the bottom right.
Element 25 – resize by 60%. Place to the bottom, slightly to the right.
Element 39 – resize by 30%. Place to the top left of the window.
Element 105 – resize by 30%, flip horizontal. Place a little up from the bottom of the left side of the window.
Element 2 – resize by 25%. Place to the bottom of the daisies.
Element 6 – resize by 25%. Place to the bottom right.
Element 54 – resize by 25%. Place to the bottom of the wicker basket.
Element 28 – resize by 40%, flip horizontal. Place to the upper right of the window.
Element 65 – resize by 62%. Place to the bottom left. Duplicate, free rotate left, 180. Place to the upper right of the window. Move the duplicate below the original scatter layer.
Element 101 – resize by 30%. Place to the right side of the tree stump.
Element 4 – resize by 12%. Place over the wicker basket.
Element 33 – resize by 15%. Place to the bottom right of the bear.

Open your tube. Paste your tube as a new layer above the duplicate scatter, resizing as necessary. Place a little to the right. Duplicate, gaussian blur 3.00. Set the blend mode to overlay.

Paste your tube again, this time below the window layer, resizing to your liking. Objects, align, center in canvas. Mura Meister Copies, H-Tile (random v-line) preset, number set to 5. Place your copies layer over the paper layer to your liking. On your paper layer, select all, float, defloat. On your copies layer, selections, invert & press delete. Deselect.

Duplicate your copies layer. Gaussian blur using the same settings as before. Effects, artistic effects, halftone using the following settings:

Set the blend mode to overlay. On the original copies layer, set the blend mode to luminance (L), 16.

Add your name, copyright, & license info. Apply a drop shadow of choice to your layers, then merge visible. Save as a PNG.

Open Paper 8. Resize by 90% & paste as a new layer onto your blank canvas.

Effects > Artistic Effects > Halftone using the following settings:

Now to add our elements:

Element 42 – resize by 50%. Place a little to the right of the far left side.
Element 75 – place to the bottom.
Element 13 – resize by 60%. Place to the upper right corner. Rotate slightly to the right.
Element 23 – resize by 50%, flip horizontal. Place to the left side of the flower branch.
Element 68 – resize by 15%. Place to the bottom, below the ‘L’ on the banner.
Element 35 – resize by 20%. Place to the bottom, a bit to the right of the flower branch. Duplicate & place to the right side of the jewelry box.
Element 43 – resize by 20%. Place to the right side of the original peach flower.
Element 98 – resize by 30%. Place to the bottom, between the shoes & jewelry box.
Element 80 – resize by 20%. Place to the bottom right of the dress form.
Element 31 – resize by 30%. Place to the bottom of the dress form.
Element 11 – resize by 25%, flip horizontal. Place to the far lower right corner.
Element 36 – resize by 25%. Place to the bottom left of the cherub.

Open your tube, resizing as necessary. Paste as a new layer above the paper layer. Create 5 more copies and arrange ove the paper layer to your liking. Merge your tubes together, then duplicate twice. On the original merged layer, Toadies – What Are You using the default settings. Set the blend mode to Screen. On the first copy, set the blend mode to Luminance (L), 12. On the last copy, set the blend mode to Overlay, 8.

Paste your tube again & place to your liking. Duplicate, gaussian blur 3.00. Set the blend mode to Overlay. On the original tube layer, Shift + L, 0, 0.

Add a new raster layer above the hat layer. Set your foreground to #d8dbe8 and your background to #f6c3ce. Set your foreground to a linear gradient, angle 45, repeats 3. Floodfill your layer with the gradient.

Select all, selections, modify, contract by 2. Selections, invert & press delete. Deselect. Select all, float, defloat. Selections, modify, contract by 3, then press delete. Deselect. Add noise, random, 75, monochrome checked.

Add your name, copyright, & license info. Apply a drop shadow of choice to your layers. Save as a PNG.

For your avatar:

Delete the top 3 layers.

Using your crop tool, create a 200 x 200 square and place over the part of your canvas that you want to use for your avatar. Click on the check mark to apply.

Repeat the steps for your frame, text, & copyright. Save as a PNG.
