Magic Potions

This tutorial was written by me on October 18th, 2016 and is my own creation. Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP Version used: PSP X5

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP.

Tube is from the very talented Kajenna called Halloween. You can purchase her tubes here.

Font of choice. I am using Sail.

Filters:

EyeCandy 4000 – Glass (optional, used for text)

Open your template. Set the canvas size to 750 x 700.

Delete the following layers: copyright, caught ya, web bottom, web top.

Open your mask & Paper 21. Paste your paper as a new layer above the background layer.

On your mask, crop it slightly so that you eliminate some of the extra space around the mask.

Apply your mask to your paper, merge group. Add noise, random, 100, monochrome checked.

Move your frame top layer above the orange circle bottom layer.

Merge together the following layers: green rec top & green rec bottom, orange circle top & orange circle bottom, frame top & frame bottom, dk purple circle & small orange circle.

Replace each layer with the following:

green rec top – Paper 4
orange circle top – Paper 20
purple rec – Paper 19
blk rec – Paper 8
grey rec – Paper 14
dk purple circle – Paper 12

On your frame layers, add noise using the same settings as before.

Now lets add our elements:

22 – resize by 50%. Rotate left 90, flip vertical. Paste as a new layer above the purple bat paper layer. Place to the upper right corner. Duplicate & place to the left & slightly lower.
57 – resize by 60%. Paste as a new layer above the purple small rec layer. Place to the left.
56 – resize by 20%. Paste as a new layer just above the top layer. Place to the top of the left small circle. Duplicate, flip horizontal & place to the top of the right small circle.
28 – resize by 60%, flip horizontal. Place to the bottom right.
71 – resize by 30%. Place to the bottom of the bookshelf.
8 – resize by 80%. Place slightly up from the center.
34 – resize by 30%. Place to the bottom, a little to the left of the center. Duplicate & place a little to the right of the center.
15 – resize by 30%. Paste as a new layer just above the ghosts layer. Rotate slightly to the left. Place along the left side of the left leaves cluster. Duplicate, flip horizontal. Place along the right side of the left leaves cluster. Merge down. Duplicate and place centered behind the right leaves cluster.
76 – resize by 25%. Paste as a new layer just above the duplicate black leaves. Place to the bottom of the house.
27 – resize by 30%. Place to the bottom left.
2 – resize by 20%. Place to the bottom, between the two leaf clusters.
85 – resize by 20%. Place to the right side of the pumpkin & mouse.
47 – resize by 30%. Place to the bottom of the magic bottle.
80 – resize by 25%. Place to the bottom right.
51 – resize by 30%. Place to the left of the skull.
35 – resize by 20%. Place to the right of the skull.

Open your tube, resizing as necessary. Paste as a new layer just above the lantern layer. Place to your liking. Duplicate & resize slightly. Hide the original for now. Move the duplicate so it is just abofe the small circles layer. Place over the left circle. Duplicate, flip horizontal & place over the right circle. When satisfied with placement, merge these two copies together. On the orange circles layer, select all, float, defloat. On the merged tubes layer, selections, invert & press delete. Deselect.

Duplicate your tubes layer. Adjust, blur, gaussian blur, 3.00. Set the blend mode to Screen. On the original layer, set the blend mode to Luminance (L).

Unhide your main tube. Duplicate, gaussian blur using the same settings as before. Set the blend mode to overlay.

Apply a drop shadow of choice to your layers.

Hide the mask layer. Merge visible. On the merged layer, Objects, Align, Center in canvas. Unhide your mask.

Resize your image by 80%.

With a pattern of your choice as the color, add your name, copyright & license info.

Apply the EyeCandy4000 – Glass to your name using the settings of your choice.

Apply a drop shadow to your name, if desired.

Merge visible & save as a PNG.
